I have been watching, listening, and reading all of the great after Thanksgiving sales that will be going on in the consumer electronics market. I have seen numerous amazingly priced items, too good to pass up, and yet I look at them with a cynical, cautious eye.

I have been in the technology business for over 20 years now and as my hair has grayed, and I have become less tolerant to change, I realize I am not a great supporter of this “tech” age. With devices such as Kindles, iPhones, iPads, and Android based smartphones; I have yet to find something that makes me say my life will be simplified with these devices.

Big Sound, Tiny Package
Recently our store acquired some new product, and one of those items was CP audio’s CHILL PILL. At first, this came across as another little gimmick item that would not live up to its reported abilities, but I could not have been more wrong.

Skullcandy Titans
I have been a proponent of Skullcandy equipment for a few years now. I believe for the price and the great warranty (limited lifetime) they offer the best product for a reasonable price.

Well the announcement has happened today. Apple has officially announced its new product, the Apple iPad. Other than a horribly named product, this new device is really an enlarged iPod Touch. Wow Apple, that was it, a decade of speculation, of feverous anticipation, you give us a “roid” induced iTouch.

Many speculators have been pointing to a new touch driven laptop from Apple to be the latest thing to come out of the Cupertino, California campus. But is it true? Like most rumors about Apple product announcements, this one again is being confirmed by an insider who wishes to stay anonymous.

Okay I get it! Everyone wants to feel the need to be connected in this world of high tech gadgets and streaming information. The ability to network with anyone, anywhere and at anytime has people constantly keeping others informed of one’s own itinerary. It has become such a trend of today’s modern technology user that new companies are forming to ride this information wave. Social network sites like MySpace, Facebook, and Twitter have basically given millions of people worldwide the ability to blog, post, and tweet their daily adventures.

Well it has been awhile since I have ranted about something, so I thought today was as good a day as any other to post my opinion. I know that opinions are subjective to the person, who expresses them, but with experience these opinions have some validity to stand on their own, my case in point has to deal with technology and consumer electronics.

I have been an avid iPod user for about 4 years, and for 4 years I have witnessed the untimely deaths of my Apple earbuds. These neatly packed, white headphones Apple supplies with every iPOD it sells are fine for use for the first week. Then you need to go out and replace them, because you played your Metallica louder than 1/3 the volume bar on the iPod. To replace the Apple headphones with the same thing you will need to drop $29 for a headphone that gives you now both volume control and a mic. These are both great features that are great to have, yet it is still the sound quality and durability that is lacking.

Well it took me awhile, but I am finally able to comment on the Macworld show that I had attended back on the 7th of January. There really is not much to say. It was boring and uneventful. Oh there was some new product like the new Filemaker, iLife ’09, and iWork ’09, but it did not bring any real excitement to the event.
