Need this to open in iWork?

AppleWorks has not been available for consumer purchase for quite a few years. But we have had several people call us and ask how they can open their old AppleWorks files on newer machines. So, I figured I would take a look at how to do this.

I found these instructions at eHow.com. So just follow these (which are pulled straight from ehow.com) and you should be just fine.

  1. Launch the desired iWork application (such as Pages, Numbers or Keynote).
  2. Select “Open” under “File” in the top menu bar.
  3. Select the desired AppleWorks document that corresponds to the iWork application. Since the file extension for an AppleWorks document is “.cwk”, open a word processing document in Pages, a spreadsheet file in Numbers or a presentation in Keynote.
  4. Select “Save As” in the top menu bar. Type a new document file name and click the “Save” button. The iWork application will automatically save the document in the converted file format.
