Tech Support?

Time to exit, stage left…

I have had an incredible time writing these blogs over the last couple of years. While I have never actually managed to get a good schedule down for writing them on a consistent basis, I always enjoyed getting some time set aside to do so. So it is with a heavy heart that I inform the regular readers of the TechTalk blog that as of now, there will be no longer be any updates to it for the foreseeable future. We will leave the page up though, for anyone who still has lingering questions about any of the “How-To” articles we have written, or just want to watch one of our videos again. So thank you all very much for just reading my (and my colleagues’) articles, it has been a pleasure.

Avoiding having to do this more often.

Avoiding having to do this more often.

The “Let’s Talk iPhone” event has now come and gone. With it, we have the new iOS on the horizon, and new iPods and the iPhone 4S are now ready for public consumption (well, on October 12th and 14th respectively). So I figured it was a great time to take a look at how to extend the battery life of your iPod or your iPhone…and who better than Apple to tell us how to do so?

Yeah, this is from Windows, but you get the idea...

Lately, many folks on the Internet have been speculating that Apple is heading toward a diskless world. With the recent release of the new Mac Mini (which lacks an optical drive) and the fact that OS X 10.7 is available ONLY on the Mac App Store, it is not hard to see why people are thinking this, and you can count me as one of those folks as well. But the real question is, “Is this a good thing”?

Karessa with the hottest gadget of the holiday season...

This holiday season, one of the hottest holiday items on everybody’s wish list is the Apple iPad. The iPad is light and portable, making it perfect for carrying around to class or work. You have questions, we have answers!

You have questions, we have answers!

Hey everyone! Sorry for the lack of updates recently, it has been really busy at the TechHub! Which is great because all the incoming freshmen need to get their tech questions answered somewhere, and where better to go for those answers than the TechHub? So I am going to take some of these questions and answer them right here (and make this a continuing segment on the TechTalk blog).

A lot has happened in the world of technology this week. Adobe announced their Creative Suite 5 on Monday. Apple announced their new MacBook Pro line on Tuesday. And in between it all, Apple revised their iPhone SDK (Software Development Kit) agreement, effectively killing what people have been clamoring for on their iPhone/iPod Touch. The agreement states the following:

Getting that video to your computer

Getting that video to your computer

The holidays came and went and Santa was very nice to you. He came down the chimney, ate your cookies, drank your milk and left behind a brand new 5th generation iPod Nano. As you head out to meet the family for breakfast, you figure it might be nice to capture those moments on your new toy. A week later, you open your email to find one from Aunt Suzie asking for a copy of the footage you took, only to realize you don’t know how to get all that video off your Nano. And of course, there are no instructions included on how to do so. That’s where we, the TechHub, come in.

Could this be the new thing from Apple Inc.?

Many speculators have been pointing to a new touch driven laptop from Apple to be the latest thing to come out of the Cupertino, California campus. But is it true? Like most rumors about Apple product announcements, this one again is being confirmed by an insider who wishes to stay anonymous.

So, you have yourself the fancy new Apple operating system, Snow Leopard, and you also bought yourself a few software titles. You rushed home and installed that shiny new OS on your Mac and it runs like a dream. You even opened up more of your hard drive after the installation! Good thing you just bought some software to fill up that space. So you pop in your Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 to install it, and you are greeted with the message, “Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro can’t be installed on this computer. Make sure your system meets the requirements.” You have a relatively new MacBook Pro so this must be some sort of mistake…

In this episode, Mike takes a look at the special deals you can get at the TechHub this holiday season. Following that, we show some highlights from our SkullCandy event we held in the store, where people traded in their old headphones for a free pair of SkullCandy ones. But stay tuned, because after that we show you how to take a screenshot on your Mac and Windows PCs.
